They can be found almost everywhere - the inhabitants
of this conflict-wrought world - and most of them have a little story to tell.
Little stories about their perspective on life here and their role in it, or just
advice and experiences handed down to the flow of newcomers. |

Brutus Leonidis
1550 x 300 Athen Shire In the middle of the south-western clan outpost in Athen
Shire stands Brutus Leonidis, a burly man with a slight gleam in his eyes, eyes
that has seen the world.
Intrigued by rumors that he has stories to tell, we decided to pay the good man
a visit and try pumping him for information, since we heard he has knowledge about
events regarding our ever-so-depressed automaton Marvin
in Southern Artery Valley.
An.. interesting fellow to say the least, but highly suspicious as well. He seems
a bit too fond of himself to be telling the truth all the time. |
Hi. My name is Brutus Leonidas. I'm the founder of this village. I trade. Or I
used to. But not with little people like you! I traded with the big players in
all the major cities on Rubi-Ka! But since the trade routes to Kapar and Sparta
broke down, trade has been slow. But they will open up again shortly, have no
doubt!
Since we were curious as to what stories he could possibly tell us, and one in
particular, we decided to ask him to tell us a few, as we sat down besides him.
Well, Crowy and Ellusion sat down besides him and heard the stories while Twicer
was busy trying to fend off the nearby clan guards that seemed intent on keeping
us from talking to Brutus.
I can tell you some stories, I guess. I know a lot of stories about this region,
the battles that took place here. Just ask me to tell you a story, and I'll see
what springs to mind. A couple of years ago, I came upon an old story
which had been handed down from generation to generation about a restaurant at
the end of the universe and an intergalactic hitch-hiker.
I decided to see if it was possible to pull some of the persons from that time
forward to our time, and hear the true story! I studied this tale for some time
and combined it with what I know of nanotechnology.
In the end I managed to perform an experiment which I hoped would pull forward
one of the protagonists of the story itself to our time. A portal opened up, and
out came a strange robot, who called itself Marvin. I tried to get the story out
of him, but all he did was complain and moan. Eventually I gave up. I think he
moved out east somewhere.
Oh, so that's what happened. Brutus was the one who brought Marvin to Rubi-Ka
... Still, we felt that Brutus had more stories to tell, and he sure did, even
though we had to give him a can of Plumbo to clear his throat.
A little way southeast of this village there was a big fight! Omni-Tek had superiority
in numbers and threatened to crush us all! But they hadn't counted on meeting
an enemy as powerful or as cunning as me. Me and some friends played cat-and-mouse
with them for a long time, basically keeping them in the same spot all the time.
Now, I don't like to brag, but if we hadn't done this, I'm sure Omni-Tek would
have taken Athen! When I came to this place, there was nothing here. But
I liked the scenery, so I founded this village you see here. And now it is one
of the best villages in the region! Even West Athens isn't as nice as this village.
And if my vast experience and military genius isn't needed elsewhere, I will make
this village even bigger!
Once when I was on my way to Tir, I came across an old woman by the side of the
road. She had a real long nose, and it was stuck in an old tree. She told me that
she would grant me three wishes if I helped her. So I put her out of her misery,
cut her nose off and sold it at the nearest shop. Made a good profit on that run!
After the nose-story we decided to leave as the guards were getting a bit too
fond of shooting live ammunition at the press, but we still think Brutus had some
interesting tales to tell. And at least we cleared a bit of the mystery surrounding
Marvin. We will undoubtedly try to follow up on this, to see if it might be possible
to get Marvin home instead of standing around in Southern Artery Valley making
everyone extremely depressed. Maybe that will be another story of Brutus sooner
or later...
These are the keywords Brutus will respond to.
